Day 3: Florence 28 May 2006

Day 3 Florence

Woke up early to have a sunday morning walk at 6am. Managed to catch some photos with my surname on it. Dunno what it means though.

Having breakfast in outdoor is...rather cold. I keep moving to where the sunshine is where i can get some warmth. We were still complaining about the hot sun back in Rome and Pisa and now...we can't stand the cold. Breakfast was quite ok, and guess what, the datuk couplef came down late as usual. They noticed that there is not much scrambled egg around and went to ask for more, which the hotel staff refused to make some more cos' most people finished their breakfasts. Haha, they deserved it.

So we went to Florence, and it was still early. So we waited for the tour guide. The Duomo at Florence is huge, so huge that i cant take its photo even if i stand at the back with my back on the wall of another building. We were all amased by the majestic duomo.

Later we went to see the river of Florence and Winnie told us that we will be having lunch at the Restaurant Michaelengelo at the hilltop visible from the bridge we are standing at. How cool! It is the venue where one of the Hk serial filmed. Seldom got tour group having lunch there cos the price of having lunch at the hilltop is rather expensive, but the view of Florence from hilltop is superb!

While the gang of richies were busy shopping at whatever cities/towns they are at, I walked around and bummed into Effizi Gallery. OMG, the queue outside is so long. The local guide did not even mention about the Effizi Gallery to us...this show how low she rank the Malaysian in terms of art appreciation. Just look at how attentive the Japanese and the Angmo audiences when their guide explain the meaning of diff paintings and carvings while our people are more interested in the branded shops and the leather market goods or touching the piglet, simply diff class of culture.

So i went round the outside of Effizi Gallery and took some pics of the statues like Gallileo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michaelangelo etc.

Then i rush back to the meeting point and yes...as usual the 6 richies are late, choosing their merchants and bags. Guess they will never change, too much money!

So we started the long march back to the Rivervale to board the bus. As usual, our bus cannot enter the city and can only wait for us at the pick up point, so damn far away. The sun is relentless and we were all tired by the time we board the bus.

So we carry on uphill to the restaurant. Meal was good and the view of Florence was fantastic.

We carry on our journey afterwards to Venice. I cant help but...dozed off. The bus stopped halfway for us to shop at a factory outlet in the middle of nowhere selling branded goods but ... none of us bought anything, guess the price is not right. Sales are all chinese, added more suspicion as to the origin of goods.

On the Motorway, we passed by many tall bridges as we were crossing the Applachians. We went to the toilet nearby the Motorway. For them, you pay the toilet cleaner by dropping coins in the bowl, which again, i didnt do it =P

Reached the chinese restaurant at Venice Mestre and....the roses blossomed at the garden is very lovely. We took some pictures.

The food here is even better than the one we had at Prato! We asked for another bowl of soup as it was simply tasty.

We were lucky that we didnt stay at the other hotel that used to be a hospital. Not that i am paranoid, but...i prefer a clean building without "history". Mum met ghost at turkey and it was definitely a horrying experience. Mum told the Turkey tale to Winnie and the tourmates, everyone got a bit scared. Winnie started sharing her experience too. Cos we asked her which country hotel has the most ghosts, and she said eastern europe. She used to stay one night at a hotel next to a graveyard, and after she bathed, she saw a lady combing her hair at the make-up table. Yeeeee......i don want to hear anymore!
